    African Journals OnLine (AJOL) is a non-profit organisation that increases the online visibility of and access to African-origin scholarly research output.


  2. Agripedia - Internet Accessible Interactive Multimedia Instructional Resource

    Agripedia is developed by the University of Kentucky's College of Agriculture created with a USDA Higher Education Program Grant. Agripedia has been created to allow students to use resources across the country in an integrated, interactive learning resource on the Internet. As an "encyclopedia of agriculture", Agripedia presents facts, figures, demonstrations, examples, graphics, and more regarding the concepts, practices, and vocabulary of agriculture in a multimedia format using audio clips, graphics, text and animation.


  3. Audio books for free

    Every audio book produced and recorded by professional actors/narrators and experienced directors. No computerised text-to-voice convertions have been used. Can be Listen mp3 audio books computer, mobile phone, PDA, PSP, CD-MP3 portable player, portable MP3 player, portable DVD player or even on iPod.


  4. Current Index to Statistics

    The Current Index to Statistics is an online database published by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and the American Statistical Association that contains bibliographic data of articles in statistics, probability, and related fields.


  5. ChemXSeer

    ChemXSeer project, funded by the National Science Foundation, is a public integrated digital library, database, and search engine for scientific papers in chemistry. It is being developed by a multidisciplinary team of researchers at the Pennsylvania State University.


  6. e-Math for Africa

    This initiative is coordinated by a group of Universities in Sweden and aims to foster exchange of resources and further cooperation between Math departments across Africa and with European peers by building an African consortium for e-journals and databases. In addition to related information for this purpose, the site is enriched with an extensive pool of free e-journals, databases, open access educational resources, links to like-minded initiatives, preprints, ebooks on Maths worldwide etc. There are also many resources on Physics and Chemistry freely available.


  7. Energy Citations Database (ECD)

    The Energy Citations Database (ECD) provides free access to over 2.3 million science research citations with continued growth through regular updates. There are over 209,000 electronic documents, primarily from 1943 forward, available via the database. Citations and documents are made publicly available by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).


  8. Free Electronic Math Journals

    Compiled by Berkeley University, this site provides links to e-journals on Mathematics by several University Presses and professional societies that are available for free.


  9. Gutenberg:The Audio Books Project

    Project Gutenberg makes audio eBooks available for some of the same great literature available in plain text. Our listings are divided into two categories: Human-read and computer-generated audio books. These files can be very large, so are not well suited for people using a modem or other low-speed connection.


  10. LibriVox: free audiobooks

    "LibriVox volunteers record chapters of books in the public domain and release the audio files back onto the net. Our goal is to make all public domain books available as free audio books. We are a totally volunteer, open source, free content, public domain project."


  11. LivRe!  Portal to free access journals on the Internet

    LivRe! is the portal developed by CNEN-Comissao Nacional de Energia Nuclear (Brazilian National Nuclear Energy Commission), through its CIN-Centro de Informacoes Nucleares (Nuclear Information Center), aiming to ease the identification and the access to free journals available on the Internet. The Portal covers scientific journals, magazines, bulletins and newsletters.The following data are available for each title: time coverage, language, secondary sources indexing the title, if it is a peer reviewed journal, optional comments and contents description, as supplied by the publisher. As to begining 2012, there are 3,529 titles covering all scholarly disciplines.


  12. National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER)

    The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) is a private, nonprofit research organization dedicated to studying the science and empirics of economics, especially the American economy. It is "committed to undertaking and disseminating unbiased economic research among public policymakers, business professionals, and the academic community."[1] It publishes NBER Working Papers and books. The NBER is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts with branch offices in Palo Alto, California, and New York City.


  13. National Institute of Informatics

    Informatics is a field that is gaining importance around the globe, and the National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Japan seeks "to advance integrated research and development activities in information-related fields, including networking, software, and content." First-time visitors should note that most of the materials in the site can be located in sections such as "Research", "Services", and "Education". Before delving into these areas, visitors may wish to take a look at the most recent issue of "NII Today" via the homepage. Afterwards, visitors should look over the "Research" area. Here they will find summaries of research projects, working papers, and information about their international partnerships. The "Services" area is well worth a look as it contains links to additional informatics databases that will be of use to scholars and students within the field.


  14. NSSN Search Engine for Standards

    The NSSN: A National Resource for Global Standards is a search engine that provides users with standards-related information from a wide range of developers, including organizations accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), other U.S. private sector standards bodies, government agencies and international organizations.


  15. Podiobooks

    The term podiobook was coined by Evo Terra to describe serialized audiobooks which are distributed via RSS, much like a podcast. Listeners to Podiobooks.com can choose to receive the episodes of their books via an RSS feed or by listening to episodes by directly downloading episodes from this site. Some listeners keep the audio files on their computers, some transfer the book to CD, but most transfer the file on to their MP3 player so they can listen no matter where they are.


  16. Quantiki

    A Quantum Mechanics and Information Wiki initially set up at the initiative of the University of Cambridge, Quantiki is increasingly populated with specialised and current learning material, working papers and much more content freely available. It also serves as a lively platform of discussion and knowledge sharing amongst physicists worlwide.


  17. RePEc

    RePEc (Research Papers in Economics) is a collaborative effort of hundreds of volunteers in 65 countries to enhance the dissemination of research in economics. The heart of the project is a decentralized database of working papers, journal articles and software components. All RePEc material is freely available.
    RePEc provides links to over 275,000 full text articles. Most contributions are freely downloadable, but copyright remains with the author or copyright holder. It is the second largest/most visible internet repository of academic material in the world.


  18. SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS)

    SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS) is a Digital Library portal for researchers in Astronomy and Physics, operated by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) under a NASA grant. The ADS maintains three bibliographic databases containing more than 7.5 million records: Astronomy and Astrophysics, Physics, and arXiv e-prints. The main body of data in the ADS consists of bibliographic records, which are searchable through highly customizable query forms, and full-text scans of much of the astronomical literature which can be browsed or searched via our full-text search interface. Integrated in its databases, the ADS provides access and pointers to a wealth of external resources, including electronic articles, data catalogs and archives. "We currently have links to over 8.2 million records maintained by our collaborators."


  19. SPIRES High Energy Physics database (SPIRES-HEP)

    This project stores bibliographic information about the literature of the field of High Energy Physics and is an example of academic databases and search engines. It is accessible at SPIRES High Energy Physics database.


  20. WebEc

    WebEc was an effort to categorize free information in economics on the WWW. WebEc and RFE comprised the WWW Virtual Library in Economics. You may browse WebEc contents or you can search. More information about WebEc is available.
