  1. Electronic Journals Library

    The Electronic Journals Library - is an initiative of the Regenburgs University in Germany that facilitates the access to full text articles online. The journals compiled cover many disciplines on both Humanities and Sciences in different languages and are divided into those that are fully accessible for all and those that are freely available from a group in institutions, normally University libraries in Germany.


  2. e! Science News

    With a similar interface to Google News, this is a portal that collects news on Astronomy, Biology, Climate, Health, Math, Paleontology, Physics and Psychology from some 40 scientific and academic sources.


  3. freedocumentaries.org

    Freedocumentaries.org is a civil initiative to give visibility to documentaries that address issues that are not often reflected in mass media. Their goal is to have everyone that watches a film learn something; whether it be a new perspective on a topic, simply understanding a conflict, or being more accepting of a certain belief system. The documentaries are divided into regional and thematic categories.


  4. FreeFullText.com

    FreeFullText.com-provides direct links to over 7000 scholarly periodicals which allow some or all of their online content to be viewed by anyone with Internet access for free (though some may require free registration). The issue(s) which are available for free are indicated for each title on the alphabetical periodical lists.


  5. Free Software and Open Source Foundation for Africa (FOSSFA)

    FOSSFA is the premier African FOSS organization, and was founded under the auspices of the Bamako Bureau of the African Information Society Initiative within the mandate given by African Governments in 1995 to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). The Vision of FOSSFA is to promote the use of FOSS and the FOSS model in African development, and the organization supports the integration of FOSS in national policies.


  6. ict@innovation

    The ict@innovation programme builds capacities in African small and medium ICT enterprises to make a business with Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). ict@innovation aims to encourage the growth of African ICT industries, particularly in Southern and East Africa, through three main actions: spreading FOSS business models for enterprises in Africa, fostering FOSS certification and supporting innovative local FOSS applications for social and economic development. ict@innovation is a partnership of FOSSFA (Free Software and Open Source Foundation for Africa) and InWEnt - Capacity Building International (Germany).


  7. iFOSSF-International Free and Open Source Software Foundation

    The International Free and Open Source Software Foundation (iFOSSF) is a nonprofit organization incorporated in Michigan, United States. Its mission is to accelerate the development and usage of Information and Communication Technologies with Free and Open Source Software worldwide for sustained economic and social development, especially for the socially disadvantaged.


  8. NepJOL

    Nepal Journals OnLine (NepJOL) is a database of journals published in Nepal, covering the full range of academic disciplines. Its objective is to give greater visibility to the participating journals, and to the research they convey. NepJOL provides information on each journal, including aims and scope, contact details and general information. It also provides Tables of contents and abstracts (where available) for all articles published within these journals. As of May 2008, there are 23 journals listed on NepJOL and 511 of the articles are available in full text (PDF). NepJOL is supported by INASP.


  9. NEP: New Economics Papers

    NEP is an announcement service which filters information on new additions to RePEc into edited reports. The goal is to provide subscribers with up-to-date information about the research literature. Our success in achieving this goal has been substantial. Today, there are 51586 subscriptions from 23516 unique addresses distributed throughout the world. The reports are generated by subject-specific editors.


  10. Online Access to Research in the Environment

    Online Access to Research in the Environment (OARE), an international public-private consortium coordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Yale University, and leading science and technology publishers, enables developing countries to gain free access to one of the world's largest collections of environmental science literature.


  11. Online Book Page

    The Online Books Page is a website that facilitates access to books that are freely readable over the Internet. Founded and edited by digital library planner and researcher at the University of Pennsylvania John Mark Ockerbloom, the portal contains over 30,000 free ebooks organised by subjects.


  12. OpenLearn

    Launched in late 2006 by the UK-based Open University, OpenLearn provides free open educational resources for learners and educators around the world under a Creative Commons licence (this means that users can download and reuse the materials, amending them to suit their purpose and context). The site can boast in excess of 2500 hours of free study materials across nine subject areas: Arts & History, Business & Management, Education, IT & Computing, Mathematics & Statistics, Science & Nature, Society and Study Skills & Language Learning.   13. Open Science Directory

    The Open Science Directory has been developed by EBSCO and the Hasselt University Library based upon a request by marine information management experts collaborating within the framework of the IOC’s (Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO) IODE (International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange) programme in order to create a global search tool for all open access and special programs journal titles in special programs for developing countries. About 13000 scientific journals are now available in the 'Open Science Directory'. When all the special program journals will be included, the Open Science Directory will contain more than 20000 titles. So far Open Science Directory contains collections of Open Access Journals (e.g. Directory of Open Access Journals) and journals in the special programs (Hinari, Agora, OARE). Other programs will be added in the near future.


  14. Open Source Observatory and Repository (OSOR)

    The Open Source Observatory and Repository for European public administrations (OSOR) is a platform for exchanging information, experiences and FLOSS-based code for use in public administrations. "If you are interested in using open source software for public administration, OSOR.eu offers international news on Open Source topics; a repository with code and documentation on software for public administrations; a state-of-the art forge for working together."


  15. Pandora, Australia's Web Archive

    The PANDORA Project (Preserving and Accessing Networked DOcumentary Resources of Australia, http://pandora.nla.gov.au/index.html) was set up in June 1996 in an attempt to develop an archive with Australian Internet publications for preservation purposes by the National Library. The PANDORA Archive contains an ever growing number of selected Australian online publications such as electronic journals, organisational sites, government publications and ephemera in a broad range of topics from Agriculture to Sports. Anyone in the world with an Internet connection can have access to the PANDORA Archive. Most of the titles are freely available to all.


  16. PhilSci Archive

    A joint initiative by Philosophy Science Association and University of Pittsburgh, PhilSci Archive is an electronic archive for preprints in the philosophy of science. It is offered as a free service to the philosophy of science community with the goal to promote communication in the field by the rapid dissemination of new work. At present the site contains more than 1800 records which can be browsed by year, subject or conferences/volumes.


  17. Qwiki

    Qwiki is a quantum physics wiki devoted to the collective creation of technical content for practicing scientists. The site is nominally centered around quantum physics including - but not limited to - quantum optics, quantum metrology, quantum control, quantum information, and quantum computation. Essentially, Qwiki is designed for people who post content to the arXiv and quant-ph. This online encyclopedia was created and is maintained by members of the Mabuchi Lab at Caltech.


  18. UNESCO Open Training Platform

    The Open Training Platform (OTP) is a UNESCO initiative to facilitate access to training materials and resources developed by development stakeholders at a global level with an objective of having training and capacity-building resources openly available to local communities, development stakeholders at grassroots level in order to foster local development. The platform offers a structured collaborative space to share resources which are freely and openly accessible for trainers and self-learners to use and re-use for non commercial purposes such as teaching, learning and research. OTP contains resources for all fields of development, including education (including teacher training), natural sciences, civil societies, culture, legal issues, computer training, media and communication, information management, community empowerment, entrepreneurship, literacy, languages, health and sanitation, agriculture, gender issues, sustainable development, microfinance, HIV/AIDS etc.


  19. VIBES-Virtual International Business & Economic Sources

    An initiative by J. Murrey Atkins Library of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, VIBES provides over 3,500 links to Internet sources of international business and economic information that are in English and available free of charge. Links include full-text files of recent articles and research reports, statistical tables and graphs and portals (pages with links to other sources).


  20. World Bank Documents & Reports

    Documents & Reports, previously known as World Development Sources (WDS) contains more than 65,000 World Bank documents which are made available to the public in order to better share the institution's knowledge base. Browsing or searching provides access to the documents in both text and downloadable .pdf format. You can use the menu on the left to browse through the documents by country, type, or sector. The types of documents include analytical and advisory work, project documents and formal publications, working papers & informal series from departments around the Bank.
