The Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) represents over 1,900 development professionals around the world who are dedicated to meeting the data and information needs of the nonprofit community.

  2. LIFE: Life Cycle Information for E-Literature

LIFE (Life Cycle Information for E-Literature) is a project looking at the life cycle of the collection and preservation of digital material. The project is a collaboration between University College London (UCL) Library Services and the British Library. LIFE is funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC).

  3. Patent Room

Patent Room is a collection of early 20th Century industrial design discovered in the U.S. Patent Office archives. This museum of 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s design is a sampling of the thousands of images.

  4. People’s Network

People’s Network services started with computers in public libraries giving high speed access to the web for everyone. In total the network in libraries offers over 60 million hours of computer use every year, most of it free, with access to a wide range of software and digital content, in buildings already rich with collections of books and other material, all supported by trained and supportive staff.

  5. Public Knowledge Project

The Public Knowledge Project is a federally funded research initiative located at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University on the west coast of Canada. It seeks to improve the scholarly and public quality of academic research through innovative online environments.

  6. Science & Engineering Encyclopaedia

Freely available encyclopaedia. The idea behind the product is to replace the standard data and formula books that should be on every engineer and scientist's bookshelf (but which often go astray) with an easy to use electronic version.

  7. Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics Network: SETNET

The Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics Network (SETNET) is a UK-wide charity that promotes Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) awareness, especially among young people.

  8. SHERPA DP

SHERPA DP is a two year project funded by the JISC. The purpose of this project is to create a collaborative, shared preservation environment for the SHERPA project http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/ framed around the OAIS Reference Model. The project brings together the SHERPA institutional repository systems with the preservation repository established by the Arts and Humanities Data Service to create an environment that fully addresses all the requirements of the different phases within the life cycle of digital information.

  9. ASCE Research Library

The ASCE Research Library is a comprehensive online tool for locating articles of interest across all disciplines of civil engineering. The Research Library provides you with unprecedented access to more than 18,500 full-text papers from ASCE Journals and Proceedings published.

  10. Citywebwatch

Subscription base service which aggregates an important area of the financial press in a format that is simple to use and personalised to the users business requirements.

  11. Discovery in Design: People-centred Computational Issues

The objective of the cluster is to identify primary research aspects concerning the development of people-centred computational conceptual design environments that engender concept and knowledge discovery across diverse design domains.

  12. Engineering Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

The engCETL is an engineering centre for excellence located in the Faculty of Engineering at Loughborough University in the UK. It was established in March 2005 and so is currently still in its start up phase. The vision of the engCETL is to be internationally recognised by engineering academics and students, and nationally recognised by professional bodies and employers, as a centre of excellence for research and development in, support for, and implementation of, industry-linked higher education in a wide range of engineering disciplines.

  13. Enviropedia

    300+ topics about the Environment

  14. GEODISE

GEODISE is one of a new breed of EPSRC funded research programmes involving multi disciplinary teams working to build a state of the art design tool demonstrator. The GEODISE demonstrator is intended to carry out engineering design search and optimisation involving fluid dynamics, and is bringing together the collective skills of engineers and computer scientists.

  15. Impart-Nanotox

This website had been specifically developed to deliver the findings of two European Nanotechnologies Projects funded by the European Commission' Sixth Framework Programme, under priority 3: Nanotechnology and nanosciences, knowledge-based multifunctional materials and new production processes and devices (NMP).

  16. InCommon

InCommon eliminates the need for researchers, students, and educators to maintain multiple, password-protected accounts. Built using Shibboleth® authentication and authorization technology, InCommon enables cost-effective, privacy-preserving collaboration among InCommon participants

  17. International Council on Nanotechnology: ICON

The creation of a sustainable nanotechnology industry requires meaningful and organized relationships among diverse stakeholders. The International Council on Nanotechnology (ICON) is the only global organization aimed at providing such interactions for a broad set of members. Managed by Rice University’s Center for Biological and Environmental Nanotechnology, ICON activities ensure effective nanotechnology stewardship through risk assessment, research and communication.

  18. Edinburgh Libraries and Information Services Agency: ELISA

ELISA is an organisational network for the libraries and information services in the City of Edinburgh. The Agency aims to facilitate collaboration and co-operation between all the libraries and information services in Edinburgh so that all Edinburgh citizens and visitors can benefit from the wealth of library and information services and resources in our City.
