    CiteULike is a free service to help academics to build a personal library. It enables the users to share, store and organize the academic papers they are reading. On the click of a button, the paper on the web can be added to the personal library. CiteULike automatically extracts the citation details. It works from within the web browser. There's no need to install any special software. It is stored on the server and can be accessed from any computer, shared library with others and find out who is reading the same papers, discover relevant literature. Only links to the papers are stored, the papers themselves stay in archives like CiteSeer or PubMed.

New circuits and/or links are added regularly.

Virtual library at this site provides resources including information services, agencies, engineering, seismology, geophysics, disaster planning, news, photo archives and reports on recent seismic events. Site is searchable. It has regional and alphabetical indexes.

    ElectronicsInfoline is a directory of selected and edited quality links from several sites related to electronics project schematics and EDA software resources available on the Internet. The wide range of electronic schematics are organized into hierarchical categories of top-level directories and subdirectories. The site provides datasheets, articles and project ideas as well. It is updated every week with new circuits. Access to the contents is free. The website is by Radio Communication Laboratory (RCL), an electronic design firm in West Bengal, India.


  8. Electronic waste guide - A knowledgebase on sustainable recycling of Electronic wastes

    The rapid pace of technological advancements in electronics and telecommunication resulting in development of new products and their availability at affordable prices are resulting in obsolesce of older devices. Electronic Waste or e-waste is the term used to describe such discarded old, end-of-life electronic appliances. It includes computers, entertainment electronics, telecommunication equipments like. The contents are organized under such categories. The site has additional links such as EcoIQ, EcoSpeakers, EcoPhotos etc.


  10. InterOperability Laboratory KnowledgeBase

    The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) tests networking and data communications products. The UNH-IOL is a full-scale, non-profit test lab dedicated to fostering cooperation and understanding within the data communications industry. The laboratory performs interoperability group tests and private one-on-one testing and debugging. It also provides employment to many graduate and undergraduate students enabling them to gain hands-on experience with developing technologies and products from hundreds of major companies. This website provides references and links to thesis work completed by IOL student employees, papers presented by IOL staffers at various conferences and white papers produced as part of IOL's technological research and development process. The IOL also provides online tutorials and links to information related to the technologies that have been used and tested.

    • WEBENCH - an online design environment. This is a free tool which guides the user through each step of the design. The users can create and simulate, configure and design the amplifier circuits using online electrical simulation; design and optimize power supplies using on line electrical and thermal simulations; choose audio amplifier for the design and get the thermal and frequency response; optimize the PLL loop filter; design and optimize an active filter using on line spice simulation.
    • Knowledge Base - a comprehensive technical document library. This provides access to reference documents, design guides, search tools and online services to support the design research.
    • Analog University - the School of Analog Design.     OAIster is a project of the University of Michigan Digital Library Production Service. Its goal is to create a collection of "freely available, previously difficult-to-access, academically-oriented digital resources". The service also covers the digital resources previously "hidden" from users behind web scripts. The resources are easily searchable. It has option for browsing by institutions/data providers.

According to them, " current model of scholarly communication has become economically unsustainable, restrictive, and increasingly limited in its ability to make information accessible". The scholarly outputs and the research results are therefore not reaching all those who have the potential to utilize these. The website discusses the remedies and alternatives to make available such useful scholarly information to more number of readers, more quickly and at economically sustainable costs as well. It calls upon the researchers to make use of the current digital and network technologies. The issues discussed include factors affecting the scholarly communication systems, alternatives for scholarly communication, intellectual property, alternative forms of publishing and economics of publishing.     The ESI Special Topics website is designed to complement ISI Essential Science Indicators Web product in providing citation analyses and commentary for selected scientific research areas that have experienced notable recent advances or are of special current interest.   19. Top 500 World Universities - Academic ranking of world universities 2008

    The task of ranking of the world universities was originally undertaken by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, with the purpose of identifying the gaps between Chinese universities and world-class universities in terms of academic or research performance. The university publishes the ranking on its website and updates the ranking list annually for the benefit of the scientific community. The criteria for ranking are based on several indicators of academic or research performance of an institution such as the number of its alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, number of its alumni and staff being acknowledged as highly cited researchers, number of articles published in Nature and Science, number of articles indexed in major citation indices and the per capita academic performance of an institution. The team has ranked one thousand universities in this manner. Published at this website are the top 500 universities. The website gives details about the methodology adopted, ranking resources and statistics and FAQs. The website states that "It would be impossible to have a comprehensive ranking of universities worldwide, because of the huge differences of universities in the large variety of countries and the technical difficulties in obtaining internationally comparable data."


  20. World Biodiversity Database (WBD)

    The World Biodiversity Database (WBD) is a taxonomic database and information system to search and browse a number of online species banks covering a wide variety of organisms. Currently, "17 species banks with 24514 extensively described and illustrated taxa" are accessible through the WBD. Each species bank has its own interface and feature set. The information provided for the items inlcude taxonomic information, synonyms, descriptions, illustrations and literature. Online identification keys and interactive geographical information systems are included as well. WBD is developed and maintained by ETI BioInformatics, an NGO at Amsterdam, Netherlands, in collaboration with UNESCO.
